The Kii Mill, alongside the Rungeto Farmers Cooperative Society, has been building their strong reputation for quality since 1953, and we strongly believe that some of the best lots in the Kirinyaga region can be found at this factory. Grown and harvested in the foothills of Mount Kenya, this perfect growing environment allows the SL28 and SL34 varietals to flourish and develop into an excellent final product, with lots typically bursting with intense fruit flavours and complex acidity.
The Rungeto Farmers Cooperative Society was formed in 1997, following a reorganization of the Ngiriama Cooperative. Today it has approximately 850 members who farm-rich, loamy clay soil between 1,600 and 1,800 meters above sea level. And the mountain’s snow-covered peaks make for a dramatic backdrop to parchment drying on raised beds.
Another key aspect of the landscape is the Kii River, from which the factory takes its name. The cold, fresh, fast-running water comes straight from Mt. Kenya's snowy peaks and is the source of the water used to wash the coffee.
You will enjoy the balanced mouthfeel flavours of the Sweet Lemon, black Cherry with subtle notes of Tomato Juice and a finish note of Toffee taste.
